This short guide on pillar candles will cover everything you need to know to get started with our pillar candles, including some tips on how to use them in the best way possible.
What exactly is a pillar candle?
A pillar candle is a type of candle that is cylindrical in shape and does not require a container or holder to burn. It is called a “pillar” candle because it is designed to stand upright like a pillar or column.
Pillar candles are typically made from a blend of wax, such as paraffin, soy, or beeswax. Ours are made from eco-friendly soy wax. They come in a variety of sizes and heights, ranging from small votive candles to large, thick candles that can burn for many hours.
What can you expect when burning?
As our products are all handmade, every candle is one-of-a-kind and may have varying characteristics. Our pillar candles, in particular, may have an unpredictable burn time due to the natural variations in wick position and width changes as the candle burns. For this reason, we provide approximate burn times and advise that each candle’s actual burn time may differ.
To ensure the best burning experience, we recommend taking care of your candle. Here are some tips for burning your pillar candle:
- Place the candle on a flat coaster or tray to catch any wax spills.
- Trim the wick to 5mm before lighting and ensure it’s center after burning.
- To ensure the longest burn, keep the top of the wax folded in towards the flame.
Burn time
Please note that all burn times provided are approximations. To ensure the optimal performance of your candle, it is recommended to avoid short burn times which may result in ‘tunnelling’ (a hole burned down the middle of the candle).
Minimum burn time will vary per candle , but as a general guideline, we recommend burning the candle for at least four hours each time. This will allow the wax to melt evenly, resulting in a longer-lasting and more enjoyable candle experience.
